Week 2: Format, Pairings and Tee Times

The second event of the season is Wednesday, June 3rd. Last week, we played a two-man scramble format in order to allow everyone to get loose and to make sure we got around before dark. We're going to go with another format that should help speed up play and hopefully get us in before darkness becomes an issue.

This week we will be playing a variation of the alternate shot format called Chapman. The game is played as follows:
  • Both golfers on the team hit tee shots;
  • Each golfer plays his partner's second shot;
  • The team selects the best of the second shots; the golfer whose second shot was not selected plays the third shot, and the players alternate taking shots until the ball is holed.
  • On par 3 holes, the partners must select the ball they wish to play after the tee shot.
Click here for a more detailed description of the Chapman format.

Pairings and tee times: The number in parentheses is the team handicap. For purposes of this calculation, the lower handicap player on a team is the A player and the higher handicapped player is the B player. The team handicap is the total of 60% of the A player's cap and 40% of the B player's cap:

  • 5:50PM:  Schoemer/Underwood (5) and DiFrangia/Palleschi (7)
  • 6:00PM:  D. May/R. Gillie (6) and Osborn/Lee (5)
  • 6:10PM:  G. May/Solis (3) and Bogan/Stein (6)
  • 6:20PM:  S. Gillie/Lorms (5) and Spencer/Webb (1)

There will be no net skins in Week 2 so that $40 will go into the pot game, taking it to $160. First place in this week's event will pay $100 to the team, 2nd place will pay $40 and 3rd place will pay $20.
